At Cairns Student Lodge, we are very proud of our personalised student accommodation and the service we provide looking after our guests; the residents.

We are privileged to be entrusted with the care, development and guardianship of these young adults, as they embark on their tertiary education and journey of life.
As a team, we see our residents change and grow as they mature into adults, and we relish this opportunity to help them reach their dreams.

We know parents work very hard to get students out of the comfort of their own homes and we ensure that their new “home away from home”, is just as warm and welcome.

The staff of Cairns Student Lodge work very hard to provide consistent high standards in each area under our care. Whether this be part of the daily administration and running of the student accommodation, preparation of meals, cleaning of rooms, common bathrooms and communial spaces, provision of safe and secure grounds, pastoral care or the maintenace of our tropical resort style gardens.

Our Resident Leaders also have a friendly customer service culture and look after students, together with our on-site General Manager, no matter what the time.

General Manager - Cairns Student LodgeGeneral Manager – Hamish Allardice

Hamish Allardice, in his role as General Manager, brings a variety of skills from hospitality, community building, and sustainable business development to the lodge. With experience in Youth Hostels in New Zealand, Hamish enjoys helping residents deal with the issues that arise throughout their stay. Hamish is enthusiastic about assisting residents in a safe and supportive environment as they develop life skills and strive to reach their goals. Parents are encouraged to contact Hamish if they have any concerns, or wish to discuss their son or daughter. Living on-site, allows Hamish experience life at the lodge as the students do.

Our fantastic kitchen team provides three meals a day for our residents. They have consulted with a nutritionist to ensure that there are healthy and balanced options available. The meals prepared by our kitchen team cater for a range of dietary requirements including vegetarian and vegan, halal meats, and gluten intolerance.

Our Resident Leaders (RLs) are a group of 10 student residents who offer support and mentoring to residents.
They are available when reception is closed to ensure all residents can enjoy safe and secure living at Cairns Student Lodge. Do contact them should you have any problems or questions.

Our caring and meticulous housekeeping team keeps the rooms at the lodge looking their best. Once a week they clean the shared living and bathroom areas of your unit. For information about the housekeeping schedule, see the Handbook on the Life at the Lodge.

The Maintenance Team Cairns Student LodgeThe Maintenance Team – Dennis and Jake

Our maintenance team are onsite five days a week to keep Cairns Student Lodge running smoothly and safely. The friendly team is able to fix any mechanical, plumbing, or electrical issues that arise. They take pride in our tropical resort style gardens and swimming pool and can be found tendering grounds regularly.

Robin - Reception Student Accommodation SmithfieldAdministration and Reservations – Robyn

Robyn is the friendly face you will find at reception. She is responsible for the administrative and reservation needs of the residents of Cairns Student Lodge. Robyn enjoys getting to know the residents on a daily basis and is happy to assist with any queries or concerns.

Simone - Financial Controller Cairns Student LodgeFinancial Controller – Simone

Simone looks after the accounting operations of the company. She is an integral part of a friendly and efficient office team environment. Her role is to maintain, record and update all the financial records on a regular basis and to provide management and directors reports to assist the effective and resourceful means to create a warm, friendly and fully accommodated lodge for students.

Marketing and Events – Karen Savins

Karen Savins brings a touch of international appreciation with her, since re-locating back to Australia after living in Singapore for the past 13.5 years. She previously worked in the private education sector including working with students who spoke English as a second language. Karen looks after events, marketing campaigns, social media and the website. She is open to suggestions, so please drop by the office when you are free. Any idea is a great idea, in order to make living at the lodge more fun and enjoyable for all.
