The Lodge Event Hub organises monthly outings for residents. On 7 October 2017, thirteen residents had a great time at Lake Eacham.
The lake is about 68km or just over one hour’s drive up the Gillies Range from Cairns. If you are thinking of doing the trip yourself, check out the map, courtesy of www.npsr.qld.gov.au/parks/tablelands – click here to download.
Lake Eacham forms part of the Crater Lakes National Park. It is a a clear, blue lake surrounded by cool rainforest, offering swimming, birdwatching, canoeing, picnic areas and shady walking tracks. It is a popular recreation area for locals and visitors.
Lunch was a huge success with Chef Brad cooking snaggs and hamburgers. The gas BBQs are free to use too.
Thanks to the Cairns Lodge Kitchen for supplying the food and a huge thanks to the drivers who helped with the car pooling this World Heritage site in Far North Queensland.
The friendly turtles and fish were in the lake too and weren’t bashful to say “Hello”. To view more photos from the trip, please visit our Facebook Page here.
